I'm curious as to what real world mileage they're getting.

I test drove one the day I bought the GLI! on my 15 minute test drive, I got about 28 combined, but that's with a 30-90 run, and a 0-60 pull included. also, 4 people in car, AC on

Thanks, but that is the 2 liter. I am curious about the 1.8T, which is rated at 36mpg highway.

He said he test drove one the day he bought the GLI. Not that the GLI gets that.

Ah, yes, I misread it. Thanks.

Sorry, I misread that.
Did you estimate that mileage from filling at the pump, or from the information display? Because the mileage indicator in the display is not accurate at all in my Golf R.

I am getting one this weekend I hope. It hasn't arrived yet... But, I wont get the 1.8, we have the 1.4 TSI

APR has a tune for this already right?
![]() 08/20/2014 at 17:29 |

They do, and it is cranking out a shocking amount of power. 245hp and 290 lb-ft.
![]() 08/20/2014 at 20:00 |
|
That's crazy! How much do they put out at the crank stock?
![]() 08/20/2014 at 20:04 |
|
They are rated at 170hp and 184 lb-ft on 87 octane.
though APR also lists "measured" stock horsepower, and they estimate the real power being put down is 189hp/204 lb-ft on 93 octane.

Does the APR tune offer different maps?
![]() 08/20/2014 at 20:11 |
|
APR only sells a single street map for any car, and it will adjust power according to octane level (I'm guessing it adjust timing and boost based on knock sensor input).

Ah that's mainly what I was looking for. 93 octane is plentiful around me but that's not the case for everyone.
*unrelated* I wish they kept the 3 pedal option for the B8 A4 avant. 10/10 would DD.
![]() 08/20/2014 at 20:20 |

if the B8 Avant had a manual I would not be in a Golf R.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE if they gave the avant the B8.5 front end I'd settle for an auto.
How's the B7 reliability wise?
![]() 08/20/2014 at 20:28 |

the B7 is pretty good as far as I know...recalls and revisions fixed any issues particularly in the later cars. My B6 Avant was a rock solid car for 150k miles, and the B7 is mostly the same car.

That's good to hear, looks like it's pretty tough to find a manual avant. A quick autotrader search didn't bring up much..

Yeah, and they are snatched up very quickly.
If you are looking for one, I would add the forum classifieds for Audizine, Audiworld, QuattroWorld and Fourtitude to the regular browsing.

I'm not really in the market but I'll definitely check those out. I always enjoy looking at cars for sale, I'll add these to my rotation. The deals are always on forums.
My dream car is an E61 535xi 6MT M-sport. I can find them without M-sport but not in a color I like.

I had on loan a new Passat with the 1.8t and during those two weeks my average never went above 27mpg. I was kind of disappointed. I thought it was maybe because the engine wasn't broken in, but my GTI is doing roughly the same mileage with its new engine as it did before.
